  • The Yukon Provincial Nominee Program

This is a PNP for the Yukon Territory for the province to nominate foreign workers to come fill up labour shortages in the country and meet up with its economic needs. There are three categories that you can actually choose to apply under this program and they are:

  • The Express Entry System
  • Yukon community pilot
  • Business Nominee Pilot
  • The Express Entry System

This is an online program where applicants are expected to create an online profile within 60days and fill up some requirements after which they will be placed in an federal Express Entry Pool and this stream allow a province to nominate applicants who qualify for the stream and meet with the requirements to live and work in the province.

The Express Entry Program is managed under three Federal Immigration Streams and they are

  • The Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • The Federal Skilled Trades Program
  • The Canadian Experience Class

But we will be looking at the Federal Skilled Worker Program and this program has two categories under it and they are:

  • The Skilled Worker Category
  • The Critical Impact Category

In the Skilled Worker Category, you will need a job offer from an employer in Yukon for you to be eligible for this stream and the job you get should be on the National Occupation Classification (NOC) skilled type 0,A or B categories.

In the Critical Impact Worker Category, employers are allowed to nominate foreign workers who have experience in jobs that are classified to be low-skilled and these workers can also get permanent residence but mind you, the province doesn’t give you permanent residence, they only nominate you to get permanent residence in Canada.

For you to qualify for this program, you will have to meet some of the requirements we will be highlighting below:

  • You must have a valid work permit for at least 6months before applying

The LMIA is issued by the Employment and Social Department Canada to the employer which sends you a copy of the document but this program doesn’t need all these process since you can work for three different employers in the province so you will need an Open work permit.

To qualify for this stream, you need to:

  • Have about 2 or 3 job offers
  • Have working hours of about 30hours per week in total more like a full-time job
  • Meet the general requirements for a work permit in the province
  • Have the Government of Yukon sign a letter of support
