Eligibility Criteria

In order to qualify for the Fulbright Egyptian Student Program, candidates must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Required Language: English
  • Eligible Countries: EGYPT. Egyptian citizenship. Holders of U.S. green cards and/or passports are not eligible.
  • Throughout the application, selection, placement, and pre-departure processes, candidates must reside in Egypt.
  • Graduated with a bachelor’s degree. A minimum of “Good” is required for applicants in American studies, humanities, and social sciences. For applicants in the sciences, a minimum of “Very Good” is requiredEvidence of English language proficiency..
  • Evidence of English language proficiency. The applicant must submit score reports for only one of the following tests: (see below for approved testing centers)
    • TOEFL ITP – 550 minimum score required
    • A minimum score of 80 is required for TOEFL iBT
    • IELTS Academic or General – minimum overall band score of 6.5 (scores do not need to be the same for each section)
  • Medicine, veterinary medicine, nursing, and dentistry students should be aware that their master’s programs cannot include clinical studies or direct patient contact.
